Chilean, singer-songwriter, Tito Rey unveiled today the lyric video for his debut single, “Nobody’s Illegal” exclusively on KCRW Pan Caliente. The song is a powerful, personal, heartfelt anthem dedicated to immigrants. The song was written by the bilingual, R&B pop artist and songwriter/producer,Danny Murcia (Celine Dion, Pitbull, Alec Benjamin). The single was just released last Friday on all digital platforms independently.

After living seven years undocumented Tito Rey is finally able to work on his music and talk about his journey as an immigrant, being discovered by Jennifer López and being an artist living in the U.S. The lyric video provides a first listen and a creative call to action visual to the life and struggles the rising artist lived.

The lyric video was directed and edited in Los Angeles by Jonathan Remple and shot at REVOLVE IMPACT headquarters who’s supporting the #NobodysIllegal campaign. REVOLVE IMPACT is a creative agency in Los Angeles whose campaigns shift culture to transform power by using strategic campaign management on countless campaigns including #SchoolsNotPrisons, Athletes for Impact to mention a few including Tito Rey’s call to action lyric video.

The powerful song delivers a message of hope and dignity and respect for undocumented people who are immigrants and refugees of all backgrounds and are currently in distress around the world and living in detention centers.

“I wrote Nobody’s Illegal with my friend Danny Murcia, based on my experience being undocumented in the US. I felt the need to release this as the first single because this song means a lot to me and I did it too as a form of therapy and healing for myself. I also wanted undocumented people to feel heard. As a former undocumented person, I lived in constant fear at all times, I was very careful to not make any mistakes or get in any kind trouble so I wouldn’t get deported. Now a permanent resident of the United States of America, I am no longer afraid and I want to shine a light on an issue that affected me in the past, but still the day to day reality of millions of people in the US”, commented Tito Rey about his single.

Nobody’s Illegal campaign is currently working closely with a network of non-profit organizations, influencers and activists to mobilize voices and action that support humane treatment for immigrants and refugees including TODEC Legal Center who were a part of the shoot for the lyric video and brought over 20 kids from the Inland Empire Immigrant Youth Coalition to participate in their ongoing campaign #LettersOfLoveToKids that served as the inspiration for “Nobody’s Illegal” lyric video. Local artist, Maxwell McMaster created the wall-like art mural with the writing, Nobody’s Illegal that the kids used to write the letters for the #LettersOfLoveToKids campaign in lyric video.

The campaign  supports children who have been separated from their families across the United States-Mexico border with over 10,000 letters being delivered to Immigrant Prisons in California, Arizona and Texas, the purpose of the activation is to share moral support to migrant children and families incarcerated in immigrant prisons and shelters in Tijuana, Mexico by writing letters of support to them.

Tito Rey opens tonight, March 5th for Anna of The North at the El Rey Theatre in Los Angeles. The single, “Nobody’s Illegal” is now available on all digital platforms.

El cantante y compositor chileno Tito Rey dio a conocer hoy el video de la letra de su sencillo debut, “Nobody’s Illegal”, exclusivamente en KCRW Pan Caliente. La canción es un himno poderoso, personal y sincero dedicado a los inmigrantes. La canción fue escrita por el artista bilingüe, R&B pop y compositor / productor, Danny Murcia (Celine Dion, Pitbull, Alec Benjamin). El single se lanzó el viernes pasado en todas las plataformas digitales de forma independiente.

Después de vivir siete años indocumentado, Tito Rey finalmente puede trabajar en su música y hablar sobre su vida como inmigrante, ser descubierto por Jennifer López y ser un artista que vive en los Estados Unidos. El video lírico ofrece una primera escucha y un llamado de acción creativo y visual a la vida y las luchas que vivió el artista.

Ahora residente permanente de los Estados Unidos de América, ya no tengo miedo y quiero arrojar luz sobre un problema que me afectó en el pasado, pero sigue siendo la realidad cotidiana de millones de personas en los Estados Unidos “, comentó Tito Rey sobre su sencillo.

La campaña, Nobody’s Illlegal actualmente está trabajando en colaboración con una red de organizaciones sin fines de lucro, personas influyentes y activistas para movilizar voces y acciones que apoyen el trato humano para los inmigrantes y refugiados, incluido el Centro Legal TODEC, que formaron parte de la filmación del video de la letra y trajeron 20 niños de la organización Immigrant Youth Coalition de el Inland Empire para participar en su campaña #LettersOfLoveToKids que sirvió de inspiración para el video de la letra “Nobody’s Illegal”.
