TO CAPTIVATE U.S. AUDIENCES THIS MONTH WITH 5 LIVE SHOWS
La Lá is set to bring her original musical fusion to audiences in New York City and Chicago in the coming weeks, and will headline the Windy City’s renowned Mole de Mayo Festival on May 24.
– La Lá, the Peruvian singer-songwriter and producer recognized for her work with some of the most respected names in the industry, is preparing to thrill audiences in the United States this month with a number of highly anticipated performances that will reaffirm her position as one of the most unique and talented artists in Latin music today. Most notably, she will headline the Mole de Mayo Festival in Chicago on May 24.
La Lá is known for her captivating sound that fuses traditional Peruvian music with elements of world music such as jazz, bossa, guaracha, and bolero, and lyrics that explore the full array of human emotions while tackling topics such as the patriarchy, capitalism, and climate change. She will bring her extraordinary musical innovation directly to fans in the States starting on May 15 in New York City with performances at C’mon Everybody, where she will share the stage with the Brooklyn-based Peruvian band Tipa Tipo, and at Barbès on May 18.
Following her spectacular performances in the Big Apple, La Lá will head to Chicago, where she will headline the renowned Mole de Mayo Festival, a lively celebration of community, music, and of course mole, on May 24. Her appearance there will conclude a busy week that will also see the gifted artist perform at Old Town School of Folk Music on May 22 and at the nationally recognized venue Fitzgerald’s on May 23.
La Lá released her impressive fourth studio album “Debut” in 2023, which takes listeners on a compelling musical journey through a variety of genres such as pure merengue, bachata, and balada nueva olera, and demonstrates her incredible artistic growth. The project, which she arranged and produced herself with the support of her long-time collaborator José Becerra Herrera, includes stellar collaborations with Jósean Log, Alejandro y María Laura, Berenice and Iluso, the lattermost of whom also featured on the popular single “El corazón no engaña a su dueño (ECNEASD).” With “Debut,” La Lá was recognized by Rolling Stone en Español with a feature as part of their “Artists you need to know” series.
